As part of their Comparing Cultures unit, second graders at RES learned about different aspects of Chinese culture including education, food, the arts, language, celebrations, and clothing.  Miss Darling's and Mrs. Riggs'  classes put together these Voicethread slideshows with text, audio, and video comments about what they learned. As part of their Comparing Cultures unit, second graders at RES learned about different aspects of Chinese culture including education, food, the arts, language, celebrations, and clothing.  Mrs. Robinson's class put together this Voicethread slideshow with text, audio, and video comments about what they learned. Second grade scholar using Twitter to ask students in Hong Kong  about their winter weather March 2017 at the RES library, by the numbers: Number of library books and other materials checked out by RES scholars, families, and staff:  1207   --  that's   57 items per day in our 21 days of school this month Number of TumbleBooks electronic books read and listened to : 209 Number of times scholars used the PebbleGo nonfiction research database:  525 Number of times scholars used our new CultureGrams database to learn about geography and cultures: 276 Number of scholar visits to the library:  over 850  (14 classes per week plus additional class visits plus individual visits) Number of scholars served by librarian visits to  classrooms:  over 200 Number of second graders who have been talking online with a class in Hong Kong via Twitter: 47 !
